Listen:

Once again, a new Arctic Monkeys album is lost on me. While some may find the band’s easygoing rock instrumentation and singer-songwriter Alex Turner’s supposedly clever and humorous lyricism to be entertaining, AM is just another move closer toward making the most cold, calculated, and tame rock music imaginable.

What did you think of this album? Love it? Hate it? Why? What should I review next, eh?

He says that there is a downward slope in speed, entertainment value and catchy hooks since the first album… has he listened to Brianstorm from favourite worst nightmare?

  2. Skeptical says:

Honestly in reality, even though I thought this album was okay. I still really miss tracks like "When The Sun Goes Down" and "Florescent Adolescence." I feel like ever since Humbug, they just haven't been the same.

  3. Mad Siz says:

This is the first review where Anthony is literally just wrong. He’s wrong about the catchy hooks not being there, he’s wrong about it not being commercial, and its “gutlessness” I guess is subjective but I don’t hear gutlessness even a little

  4. beebjank says:

i respect anthony’s opinions and mostly agree with them but this was just plain misinformed lmao. he was just so obviously expecting one thing and then was unreasonably upset that he didn’t get it. i also don’t think the “AM has done a 180 in tone” argument was justified since suck it and see (which preceded this album) was completely dead in terms of pacing, and humbug was beginning to slow down before it. i’ve moved on to more abrasive music tastes but this review still frustrates me for some reason.

  5. Charlie Bolt says:

Who hurt you, Anthony? Was Arctic Monkeys the music playing when you caught your lover in the act with someone else? Was that 'someone else' Alex Turner?

  6. K-Leb XD says:

I think this album has like 3 or 4 catchy and actually fun songs, and the rest is just the same boring stuff. If i had to give it a score, probably would be something around 5/10.

  7. Jordan says:

yes ive always thought this the music is in no way bad but its not unique and so boring and doesn't really bring anything new or interesting to the table

  8. bluejam says:

I'm not too hot on arctic monkeys, but Do I Wanna Know? is such an undeniable bop, it's ridiculous to say it's not catchy.

that said, you gotta respect melon's integrity in reviewing things honestly even when he knows it's not gonna be popular. you don't get reviews like that a lot these days, now youtube is full of 'reactions' in which people practically fake orgasms for views regardless of what they're listening to

  9. Finlay Reedie says:

I watched this a few years ago and got a little annoyed but agreed with most of his points and when this album for some reason became one of the top in the world, I started laughing because Anthony would get dislike bombed on a fair review

  10. paul benson says:

I couldn't agree more with what he says. For example the guitar riff on "Do I want to know?" is lazy and boring. It's a shame what happened to them as their earlier music was great.

  11. Jack Williams says:

i'm 7 years late but after seeing this video i'm genuinely unsubbing and not what hung this guy anymore. not because i'm a die hard arctic monkeys fan but this shows to me how this guy never truely knows what he's talking about. just a pretentious douchebag who speaks in a way which makes him sound like he knows what he's talking about

  12. Connor Sewepegaham says:

I hadn’t seen any reviews or fan opinions on any of their music before listening to this album and thought it was pretty good 8.5/10 for me hope their earrly stuff is as good as I hear people talk about it in the comments

  13. yes says:

I know I’m 7 years late, but the opinion of each album getting worse ???????? HELLO ???????????? THE LYRICISM IS LACKING ??? Anthony your breaking my heart, dont go where I can’t follow 😭😭
