Some important factors to consider when buying a first guitar for yourself or for someone else.

Things to consider:
1. Get a guitar that is easy to play! (I recommend an electric guitar or a nylon string classical guitar).
2. If you’re getting an acoustic, get one that is acoustic-electric, so you can plug it in and do more with it!
3. If you get an electric guitar, get one with humbucker style pickups, instead of single coil pickups. This helps avoid feedback and unwanted noise.
4. Also, If you’re getting an electric guitar, avoid Floyd Rose style tremolos, as these require more maintenance and adjustments and can he difficult for a beginner guitarist to use.
4. You don’t need to spend a lot of money! $200-300 tops!

1st guitar ? used easy to play and OK quality Strat if you can get a decent amp. A classical with pickup (Cordoba) if you really can read music and dig classical/Romantic guitar

My first guitar was a Trinity River steel string acoustic. I wasn’t a fan of how it felt at all, and it unfortunately kept me back from wanting to learn for another 5 years. 😭

Is the interference on single coils really bad enough to make it preferable to go with humbuckers for a beginner? I'm looking for a good first guitar and was thinking of getting an SSS strat, that's why I'm asking

Started with a Yamaha nylon acoustic guitar for 110€, then got an Ibanez starter set for 290€ later, the Gio was really good
Great advice. So it goes to show that in April of 1979 I made the right decision by starting out on an electric guitar which by the way is a 1978 LS 450 from Aria Pro II. Still have it to this day. Still need to catch up to you though my friend.
