Learning to read guitar tablature is an important part of learning guitar, but it is confusing at first sight.

This video will shed light on tabs, so if you’re a beginner guitarist, be sure to watch this lesson. You’ll learn:

– what all the lines and numbers on the tablature mean
– what kind of symbols are used on tabs
– learn through using practical examples of songs (towards the end of the lesson)

It’s also a good idea to have a printout of a tablature reference guide handy when you’re learning this stuff, grab it on under the lesson’s Tabs/Jamtrack section:

I don't know anything about the different chord types yet, but did want some clarity on reading tabs in general and this helped a lot. Technically I'm wanting to learn bass but this still helps me understand how to read the arrangements of numbers. One thing I'm curious about is what the large amounts of space in front of or behind the tabs signify. I'm guessing they're like moments to pause and then continue with a different phrase. I've seen a tab like this that kind of threw me off
I figured the 7s that are right next to each other mean that fret is played four times, four times again…but then what're the gaps for?

I have never played the guitar in my life but all of a sudden I started interesting in the guitars. I have been watching a lot guitar tutorial videos since and this video is the easiest one to understand about guitar tabs. Thank you so much for explaining one by one. I wasn't sure whether I want to just enjoy guitar musics or play the guitar but after I watched this video I am keen to buy an acoustic guitar and start practicing the guitar in the future:) Thank you.
