    Horatio Stafford wrote this hymn on his way back from Cardiff to USA when him and his wife passed the place where the Ville du Havre (Steam boat) had collided with a sailing ship. Horatio Stafford's four daughters and his wife were on the ship. The daughters were killed. After being in the States for a while, they went with other members of their congregation to start a life in Jerusalem. 17th August 1881. The group were know as The Americans and did amazing work there. Such a fascinating history behind such a beautiful hymn.
