Hello I have a question. I use an external MIDI control keyboard from a keyboard (Tyros). A few notes are typed as normal, then the N (record) cursor hangs in the sense that it is standing still and all the notes are stamped into the chord. I have to shut down the program and restart it, where the situation repeats itself. Guitar Pro 5 works fine on the software. However, Guitar Pro only has a treble clef, because it is a program designed primarily for a guitarist. I want to write notes for the piano, i.e. the treble clef and the bass clef. Has anyone encountered such a situation? I have been looking for a solution for several months. Please give me some tips. Best regards . MiroslaV

but why can't MuseScore simply represent the different note-lengths by the time as long as one presses with the finger the note on the piano-keyboard (it should read the midi note-on and note-off message)?

Thank you so much. I am literally shocked by how much one can learn in a few minutes. I am creating a score after about 10 minutes of video (or less!). Terrific!

Why isn't there a real-time MIDI record function? 30 years ago, so in 1990, on my ATARI ST (8MHz CPU) it was possible to record a connected Keyboard, the Technics KN800 in my case – in real-time! I remember trying to play to the metronome. The cheap Steinberg Twelve Software could even quantisize the play. And nowadays we have to input note by note, when every coffee machine is a million times more powerful than the old ATARI? I don't get it.

why can't I just input the notes with my keyboard like GarageBand?
it is much faster to do it rather than selecting them with mouse….

When I pulled up MIDI input there was nothing for me to select. I have a Yamaha with a USB cord to my computer, but nothing showed up in the MIDI options can anyone tell me what step i'm missing here pls 🙂

01:49 And here's where you've lost me, because I don't have such a dialog box in my version of MuseScore from some weird reasons. Everything looks different. Maybe it's a different version? I can't see any way to select my MIDI keyboard nowhere in this tab. The keyboard works just fine out of the box in LMMS.

  8. Doyle Neuwiller says:

Sorry. I did just fine until I had to select my keyboard. (Roland RD2000) When it did not show up in I/O, your instruction was unclear and I could no longer proceed. (Select it from a “draft down” menu, then click OK?) No clue what that is.

Thumbs down. Something as common as entering notes with via midi-keyboard should just work. Plain and simple.
    I'm getting all kinds of mistakes, such as playing c d e f g and musescore writes c c c c c, it enters the notes as if "re-pitch"
is selected, although it's NOT selected, it stops working alltogether and you have to restart it, and so on.
Maybe there's a solution to all of this. But I'm not interested in spending my time finding musescore-solutions, I'm
interested in getting on with my work.

its still not working. i don't understand the API and stuff like that. please explain. This is very frustrating for someone who has never done anything like this before.
