  1. Dimwits Advocate says:

Guessing which note comes next in Melodies in songs is a good exercise, but I thought Justin would show us relationships in order to find melodies without trial and error. Perhaps I need to look at Justin's videos on intervals, but I don't know.

  2. Roy says:

If you didn't mention that starting on C meant that the song was in F, I would have never figured out Happy Birthday. "A sounds a bit too low…B sounds a bit too high!"

  3. TONY FLOYD says:

I have a hard time with trying to figure out what chords are what melody wise bye ear could you help me with that what book should i get i like sweet child of mine and its to late by derek and the dominoes

  4. Paul Fiero says:

I really really really enjoy playing vocal melodies to songs. I’m a rocker but enjoy playing vocal melodies to 80s pop songs and it sort of turns them into 80s rock songs instead ,it’s kinda really cool. Theme songs too.

  5. Marc Bertrand says:

Say I want to strum "Happy Birthday", what are the chords I should play? (turning individual notes into chords). Would you show us how to do that please?

  6. Donn Goodside says:

Justin _ this is my biggest frustration. I know my, Major, minor, modes… Arps, and my 'Progression's, and cannot find what I hear in my head, or put it to the Fret. I ill try it and let you know!

  7. adam a says:

ive been doing this allot more this past year and my lead playing and tone is getting a little better. Im trying to just play random songs off pandora and just copy the singer finding the notes to match the voice, its cool because you dont need to learn or try and find out the chords, i actually find it easier to find the notes rather than the chord progression, for me i just find the key that the songs in and most of the time the notes the singer is singing will be in the major scale minus a few notes that may seem out of key but as lomg as it matches the singers words thats all that matters, with a little dirt or over drive it sounds thicker and great :0) and if you cant find the right note on the fly i found that you can play it off by just improv or adding a lick you know.

  8. Caleb Sansom says:

Thank you Justin! I been meaning for a while to start transcribing, ear training…stuff. You also have courses for these on your website, but which one should I start with first? Ear training? Thank you!

  9. Strabbs12345 says:

Lol, well I did ok, just banged out happy b day, one, and the power of love. Interesting how certain intervals had me completely stumped! I'll stick at that, cheers Justin

  10. Tim Scott says:

This is awesome; I think this is how I play all the time!!!! How often do you find yourself playing the same melody in a different position, when playing a gig, and get to the transition and go where are the next notes? haha

  11. Jacob Anderson says:

My main problem with this is that I'm literally deaf, not extremely deaf, but it's still really difficult to distinguish between a clear note and a fuzzy one. Either way, this was still a great video a nd I really enjoyed it. Thanks.
