R.E.M. – “Driver 8” (bass cover) – accurate to bass | Sheet mới nhất.
XEM CHI TIẾT VIDEO NGAY BÊN DƯỚI
While warming up with covers, I noticed that all of the tabs & bass covers of R.E.M.’s “Driver 8” are just variations of the guitar lines. They sound neat, but it’s not at all what’s played on record. It isn’t perfect (and I’m no Mike Mills), but hopefully this helps anyone trying to learn!

I guess that I never appreciated Mike Mills’ as a bassist. My bad.
Awesome!
I loved it so much😉🙂
I couldn't help singing the vocal😁🙂❤️
Mucho badass
Nice job – the chorus part is such a weird little riff with the open D, but Mike always came up with great parts like that.
Holy jeez, you really nail this! Thank you. I've been working on this one, but it's confusing to distinguish what the bass is playing versus the (subtle) guitar line overdubs. Bravo!
Amazing work!!
That was just awesome 🙂
please do more of these bass covers, they are amazing and they've all helped me so much!
great sound!!! just amazingly done… I too cover this and listening to you play helps me as well immensely. The Epy sounds faithfully clear as near a Rick as well… thanks you for sharing!
Very good!
Top cover man. Lovely tone from the Epi LP. Fab tshirt by the way…only the enlightened will understand. 😉
I tabbed this out the other day. It is totally faithful to neither the studio nor to this video (which I have to say was ENORMOUSLY helpful in figuring out a lot of these parts), but it includes a lot of elements from both, and also includes a few things that I do a little differently when I perform this song live with my R.E.M. Tribute band. Our band is Dead Letter Office — International Tribute to R.E.M. Please check us out on YouTube and "like" us on Facebook. Cheers!

Great job! We play this nearly every show in the R.E.M. tribute band I'm in and while Mike's live play always left a bit of the song open to interpretation (I doubt he ever played it quite the same for 2 consecutive shows), I am particularly weak in the sort of "post chorus" ("but we're still a way's away") portion. I'm hoping this video will help. Thank you very much!
Awesome? Did you Tab this? I’d love to see it as your notes are PERFECT!
nice work
Wow, excellent bass work there brother! Difficult song played with a rockin attitude. Yeah nailed it spot on.
Ummm AWESOME! Love Mike Mill's bass lines and you showed the underlying beauty of it!
Nailed it, Kyle
All downstrokes. Very nice
That smile at the end, when you know you rocked it :).
beautiful cover!!! I'm a hardcore R.E.M. fan and Driver 8 is one of my favourite songs and you did great !!!!!
Thank you lumberjack. I played this about 4 times, twice in a very rapid succession.
I think I might be in the band…
Well done. Any chance you could put it on tab for me to learn it? (I can't follow all the steps on the video).
I long ago had the opportunity to sit with Mike Mills over a few drinks on evening/morning. I would imagine the conversation was wide ranging and in the end I was pretty much a jerk, telling him I didn't like REM. Obviously, he'd heard such before and was not at all phased. He's rich and famous and I'm not.
Fast-fwd to today and I still don't like REM very much.
That said, I have been playing in bands that have REM songs in their set, and I have a bunch of respect for Mike Mills' playing that I didn't before. That dude (and you Kyle…) are mother-hubbards on the bass(!).
i really enjoy it…thanks …you helped me a lot !
This is awesome. Been listening to a fair bit of older R.E.M over the last year and have just recently re-discovered my love of bass. Possibly my favourite R.E.M song but I didn't realise just how good the bass line was until I watched this video. Great job.
Wow! Great! Glad I clicked. 🙂
Woof — that's quite a stretch with the pinkie at several points…! O_O
I never realised just how FUCKING BRILLIANT this bassline is because it's hard to hear clearly in the original. Mills is a bass genius. Very well played and I like how (especially on the intro) you didn't just go with the guitar.
My favorite jam!
This is the best Driver 8 cover I have seen. thanks for posting.
I have an impromptu gig coming up where we are called "ReRem", and playing about 9 REM covers. I have not played this tune since my frat band days in the 80's. Thanks for the refresher.
Well done! Learning this for my band and your video helps a ton.
Thanks Kyle! Your right. It's nice to hear the actual bassline go down while the guitar is coming up on the intro lick. Mike is really separated in this track and you did a killer job keeping it together with the open strings. Epi sounds great.
Great!
