Given English is a second language for this dude and my learning trajectory, (steep and early), I have learned more from this lesson than all others combined. He is obviously strong in theory but intelligent enough to dumb it down to my level which is important from a foundation perspective. 5 stars man!

I like the relaxed way you teach..This may help some new to the blues. It's long and detailed but may some years of frustration. As time goes on new blues players will find that the dom7 will always have a b7 (or flat 7) In it so will the min7..It also has the (b7) in it. Example of dominant C7 would. be C E G Bb and. and a C minor7 would be C Eb.G Bb. Notice the Cminor 7 and.dominant C7 have the same b7..Remember another word for b7 is lowered 7. Now what are we lowering. The scale C.Is where most begin. I started on piano in1970..yes I started in C no sharps or flats.
The symbol for flat is a backwards leaning b. Unfortunately that is is not in most text editors. So I have to use b. So C D E F G A B C are the 7 scale degrees. So if we lower the note or the 7th scale fegree. That is B. The seventh scale degree referred to must be one of the 12 scale degrees..Not minor scales. Bb is always lowered a 1/2 tone down from C. That is why it is called the b7. The good news is all the b7s are learnable very quickly.C D E. G A B are easiest and van be notified in seconds. b7 o7 of is C..the b7 of D is C .. E..D. G F. A..G. B..A…
On a piano.or a guitar..Eb..Db…
Ab Gb. Bb ..Ab.. It is best to look at a pic of the piano for the ones I did not cover.. The b7 if or Db is Cb…
Here is why..it only takes a second..but to understand some of this I have to write the Db scale out. No need to remember scales now. That's for the future if you are are just.beginning. Db Eb F Gb Ab Bb C Db.. Tht b7 is by definition lowering the major 7 of the major scale..here Db.1/2 tone Dow..So the 7th note of the Db major scale is C as shown above. So when we lower a tone that ie. the major7 and additional 1/2 step down. That b7 will always be. a whole step down. So Db Cb.. The note Cb is not an easy concept for some..its just B. Start on the easy ones first. say D.C….E D.. . G ..F..
C D and F are the b7s.. It's not important to know this all..just learn a little.at a time.

One more technical question, while improvising the first/root chord can A7 (dominant) and Aminor7th both be used ?
Thanks a ton Sir. Wonderful initiation to Blues. I think it is for everyone who wants to learn or review the Blues concepts. I really enjoyed the way you taught the improvisation using question answering. It made the structure very clear. I have few questions. I play Classical Guitar (nylon string Yamaha C-80) using fingerstyle (p-i-m-a). While playing Blues should I change my guitar or keep playing the same style ? Or is there an alternative to switching to Electric and keeping the fingerstyle ? I will pose this question to my teacher. What is your thought on this ? Thank you. Very glad I took this course.
