  1. Richard Keyser says:

There's no comparison between the UE boom and the JBL flip 5. The flip 5s sound quality is way, way better. For the money the flip 5 is the best Bluetooth Speaker made in my humble opinion

  2. E Tow says:

I like none of these either in design or function. They don't have TF card and FM radio built in especially if you are backpacking !

  3. C Tran says:

Wow I love this kind of review set up!!! It gives a more well rounded view of the speakers compared to other reviewers who can only present their perspective which is fine but it’s nice to understand why different people would rank the same speakers differently. For me it’s a toss up between Marshall and Sonos but I do reallyyyy envy the features the UE boom has, with the loop, durability and floating.

  4. Aminul Hussain says:

Got the Flip 5 and Marshall Emberton.

JBL Flip 5 has a forward mid to high range while the bass is filling, but it's not balanced.

Marshall Emberton has a very balanced sound, it's not got that much bass compared to the JBL Flip 5 and it doesn't get as loud as the Flip 5.

My preference is the Marshall Emberton as it sounds much more cleaner and balanced.

  5. Christian Guevara says:

I use my speaker when I go mountain biking. Their are plenty of basic Bluetooth speakers out there for $40. Keep in mind that you can lose a $200 speaker as easily as you can a $40 dollar one.

  6. Hacked Robot says:

Size of drivers. I'd expect two ” full-range” drivers and a passive radiator. Smaller drivers will increase high freq clarity but decrease low-range Bass. To get better fidelity, you need 2-way multi-sized drivers.

  7. G.S. says:

I’ve listened to boom a couple of times and compared it to the same speakers. Boom? It’s the worst sound. It’s muffled and it sounds like a an Aliexoress speaker worth $1. Seriously. I’d go for Sonos or Marshall.

  8. Nugget YT6 says:

The JBL Flip is basically the default option where I live since none of the others are sold in stores near me, only JBL and Sony, the rest are generally crappy cheaper versions from general electronics companies

  9. mattheturk says:

The sound quality of emberton is much better than Sonos ueboom jbl flip 5 and I’m also going further and saying it’s better than ue mega and charge 5 as well. Yes they get louder yes they’re very bass heavy but especially charge 5 and flip 5 are mono speakers. Sounds that are missing on flip 5 and charge 5 can be easily heard on Marshall emberton. The sound clarity sound stage mids and highs sound amazing compared to its competitors. I think 6 is a very cruel score to give to Marshall guys. C’mon now.

  10. Marcus Chan says:

I have the UE Boom 3 and have been travelling with it for the past year and I love it. I can throw it anywhere and not worry about it. I have an older Bose Soundlink for when I’m at home and it still sounds great and performs well for around the house.

  11. t n says:

The flip 5 is the best. For just turn on and use.
Not everyone wants to f… about with endless features and fine tuning. And bollocks pointless extras when a you want to do is listen to the radio/Spotify when your cutting the lawn.

  12. Paul Hermelin says:

Great review guys. After listening to each of these similar sized speakers in your video, I found them all all lacking in terms of their overall sound reproduction quality, and you’ve convinced me to look at speakers that are a bit larger and hopefully have better sound because their speaker drivers are slightly larger.

  13. AUSSIE DOG says:

I ended up retiring my Marshall Emberton to the spare room simply because the damn thing auto shuts off after just 10 minutes of no audio. Sooooo annoying to have to turn it back and allow it to pair a dozen times a night.

  14. Ankur Mishra says:

    Legends:
    Marshall Emberton: me
    Sonos Roam: sr
    UE Boom 3: ue
    JBL Flip 5: jbl
    My preference:

    1. Design:
    me >> sr >>> ue >>>>>>>>>>>>>>jbl

    2. Sound:
    me >>>> sr >>>>>>>>>> jbl >>>>>ue

Not saying anything about features, portability and battery as these are objective.

  15. Gabrielle Guzman says:

I own the JBL and UE speakers. Both are great battery wise and easy to have on adventures outdoors. My UE is definitely louder and the one I use more. But I believe the JBL has a better sound.

  16. Luis Camacho says:

JBL is hot garbage – and I mean it – So many issues with JBL speakers will fail and I loved them – flip 2 flip 3 and flip 4 all dead batteries – no software to manage the longevity of the battery – UE is great product but Bluetooth is spotty – Sonos roam is newest addition and clear and works amazing on Airplay mode

  17. David Pálka says:

For this kind of speaker, which will be much more in the bag traveling with me to my office, workout place in the park or weekend outside of my home, most important is the great balance sound quality/batery/durability. I will probably not tweak the sound in options or use some smart functions on it. To be honest, 50% of sound characteristic will disapear when I will turn it on somewhere in the park during my training. So for me UE Boom or JBL. And the fact, I have a lot of JBL friends around me and my last experience was, that we had Flip and Charge paired to cover the workout place much more, this is the other point up for me. A lot of friends I can pair with 😀 … (still, when I talk about small portable allarounder speaker) 🙂
