I’m not clear on what makes the two scales different? They both have different root notes? What if you played them in a different key?

its the minor pentatonic but great teaching,, i like watching you it always gives me some ideas on phrasing and timing,,

Good stuff. I just don't get moving the same shape up 3 frets. When I can play A major and A minor from the same box by changing a couple notes!?

Relative minor. And the only thing that dictates which one to pay is the chord progression, not bluegrass or country. Both are used in both styles.
Why do you speak of Tony Rice and Norman Blake in the past tense. They ain't dead, pal. Still around and kicking butt.
Your "country scale" is just the major pentatonic and what you call the "blues scale" is not, its just the minor pentatonic. The real blues scale is the minor pentatonic scale with the added flat 5, commonly called the "blue note." So the actual "blues scale" has 6 notes.
Both scales are the same only one is A major pentatonic and one is A minor pentatonic, that's how I see it any ways,the major sounds happy and the minor sounds sad and when I solo I actually mix them both 🙂
Great video, but you keep saying 4 frets when your tab shows 3 frets, from 2 to 5.
