A great video outlining the main parts of mastering. If anyone wants to learn quick and easy mastering techniques with an explanation on them this video is perfect. I actually used this video to master an acoustic song with vocals and it turned out to be such a great difference for the better after comparing them both together. Thanks for the video please take a look at my channel 🙂 #liked

Really useful info, thank you. I have a couple of queries. My first is why do any of this if you have already done all of these things individually on your mix in the project? Is it still needed? Also I’m curious why you chose to do the effects on the output and not the input? Thanks

  3. Magnolia Kids says:

Just a quick question! When you highlighted the measures at the end, what was the purpose of doing that? Does that mean the effects are only added to those specific measures only?

  4. The dB Factory says:

never mind the misspelled terms. But when he wanted to check – “Mono capability” which is supposed to be “mono compatibility” and reached for the directional mixer and instructed that all the way value of 2 is stereo, which is supposed to be 1. That’s when I stopped watching.
Kindly change the title to “How I master music” instead of how to.

sorry for being out of topic. so i'm making projects. i always turn the master volume to 0 dB & always compared it to the other songs and i got a quite good sounds. but when i bounced it to the WAV, the volume is always getting lower & different than i made in the project. so, may i know the solution from you?

Thank you, Tomas, for your very informative video! I did have one problem following your instructions at the 2'30" mark. On your video at that point you positioned your cursor over a track and clicked on it and it appeared "create new track". On my version of LogicProX (on my Macbook Pro), nothing happens when I hold the mouse over that area. Is there another way to do this?

  7. Sounds By Lio says:

Thanks Tomas! Used this technique for mastering my entire EP, which released last month on all platforms. Racked up 1k streams in the first 24 hours, exceeded 3k steams after the weekend, and over 5k streams after a week with ZERO dollars put behind marketing, ads, etc. The project has taking off farther than I imagined. So, overall getting tons of good feedback. Couldn't have done it without your channel. **DROPPED MY FIRST MUSIC VIDEO TO GO WITH MY TOP PLAYED TRACK (L-RICH – DARWIN'S LAW)….GO CHECK IT OUT! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PoEZaVRCk4&feature=youtu.be

I rarely use a multimeter for anything, but for some reason, it did work for this particular pop track I was working on. I watched you to get some ideas on how to space my track out. Luckily, I understand how thresh, ratio, etc. because I would've been lost! You didn't really explain it too well [empathetically, I imagined being in college for the first time and hearing you explain this, would've confused me] I get your concept, but it is kind of… dry, because truthfully, there was nothing done to 'make the song sound better' you added an exciter at 5.9kHz, just to add a multimeter, which runs off into the highs at 7.9kHz, that you also boosted at 5.9kHz. Suggestion. I know this is a 'Stock Plugins' video, and you did a decent job, but look into a spectrum enhancer. This way you won't need to 'excite' one frequency, you can knock out the whole spectrum of the song and use m/s; this may save you at least 2 plug-ins.

  9. Max Walker says:

This is probably a dumb question, but how are you effecting the first track when automating the second one? How do you connect them is what I’m asking

  10. Joe Palooka says:

What a great video. You get five starts from me. Extremely clear, direct, and informative without getting unnecessarily complicated. I'm a Logic beginner trying to grasp all these concepts. I've looked at a lot of YouTube videos about mixing and mastering and you really get top marks from me. I really love the way you demonstrate how to use the plug-ins. But the real test is the final result. Your track sounds excellent. Very inspiring. Thanks!
