Sorry boys, no big mystery here. These look like grappa glasses minus the stem. Notoriously underrated by the whisky community.
Yes, it’s not built for drinking whiskey but you should also know that we, Turkish people have a tendency to reinvent functions for objects, other than their original function(s). Many people in Turkey drinks our traditional drink “RAKI” from these “slender waist” glasses. 🙂 Some of them
like medrink it also with a glass of tea on the side. One zip raki, one zip tea. 😊👍🏽👏🏽A swing and a miss from me. All the ethanol is gone yes, but so is everything else if you ask me. I also like a little stem on my whisky glass.

I'm a huge fan of whiskey but as a Turkish guy, my first love is raki and it's a pretty common thing in Turkey that we drink raki from tea glass.
We also have a saying in Turkish,which is 'çay bardağı candır',it means something like ''tea glass is your best mate',fyi;)

Maybe it is not just for whiskey but for many alcoholic drinks suitable, we Turks drink Rakı also from tea glass.
The problem with Turkish Tea Glass is that when you hold it, your body warmth changes the temperature of the liquid which the glass contains. And that change of temp, may ruin the experience. On the other hand the Glencairn glass has a lick layer of icing at the bottom of the glass which you can hold it without having your hands contact the thin crystal part which holds the whiskey.

Yes.. Those glass is also good to drink Turkish Rakı.. Specially "Ajda" glass (which is a little bigger but thinner glass produced by Paşabahçe company)

Our ancestors drunk some special alcohol (Kımız) and also Turkish Rakı is the important drink in Turkish culture. When you go to Anatolian small towns, they will serve rakı with Turkish tea glass (specially Alevi and Bektaşi people). Also Turkish people are drinking too much tea than other countries, including UK. It is nice to watch this video because it may trigger new research about Turkish glasses. Thank you guys!
