Proud to be a West Virginian born and raised, strong WV Appalachia roots on both sides of my family. I love all y'all. This song makes us all family. ❤❤❤❤❤

I have decided to share a very personal story today. This song reminds me of summer camp. Summer camp meant the absolute world to me- I didn’t have to worry about school or parents or what was going on at home. I made so many friends there, some of which I still communicate with. The summer camp I went to would always without fail play this song everyday. I can’t hear it now without tearing up with how much I miss that life. The outdoors always called to me (I hear myself, this is cheesy 🤡) and summer camp allowed me to be out in it. I don’t know how to express my feelings towards this song, it fills me with joy but yet a melancholy sadness. If coronavirus hadn’t have hit, I would’ve had maybe one more year of camp. But alas, here I am, pouring this all out (that I keep very personal and close to me) As someone who lives on the edge of suburbia and rural communities, I often drive streets with farmland on either side of the road. Sometimes I ride by the camp, wishing that the country roads I drive everyday could take me home. But they can’t. That life is over.

Doesn’t matter if you’re in a desert, in the cold corners of Antarctica, or on a bus in the suburbs. If anyone starts playing this, suddenly everyone is from West Virginia.

The way he talks about these almost heaven like places is making me sad that I will never be able to go, where I've never been but still miss. God bless this man for this
