I think using a strat with humbuckers and single coils are the best. Like the Yamaha Pacifica. Because You can play pretty much anything on it for a low price. It’s amazing for beginners like me. Because you can play blues and jazz, but also high gain metal with the comfortable shape of a strat.

Fender vs. Hertiecaster would be more intresting! In terms of price, you get the Hertiecaster for the course of guitar strings and some of them don't sound too wrong. My old Epiphone Les Paul Standard wasn't not more fun either, it was just more expensive.
The best option is… Grab them both!

I own both, and I find they each have their own special vibe. I don’t consider one “better” than the other. In fact we’re overlooking the revered Fender Telecaster, which has yet another amazing vibe.
Three fantastic guitars which collectively are responsible for SO much great music. 👍🏻 KUDOS to both.

Strato of course for me, it has 5 switch, good for any condition, and I like strato's treble, so punchy.
I hate gibson, not only it only has 3 switch, but I don't know to say, it's not as punchy as strato.
The Strats sounded better in the mix. The LP's better outside the mix. I hope that settles it once and for all.

Bro.. seriously. With all those effects, you cant tell the difference. Take all that garbage away, and play the guitars just through the amp. You cant seriously think alder/ash can even come close to mahogany/maple. Hell I could have made a budget ibanez sound like that with all those effects. Lol.

Its all preference lol 2 completley different guitars but I’ll take les paul cause I like the fat tone and thick wood but overall I’d take a charvel san dimas over either anyday

How much of the sound is down to the pickups? If the LP had 3 single coils would it sounds like the Strat? If the Strat had two humbuckers, would it sound like the Les Paul?

Apparently most people watching this are musically challenged. When playing clean the Fender was superior but when playing with gain the Les Paul was far better no comparison

This is enormously helpful. Thanks man. I mainly play rhythm acoustic folk/bluegrassy stuff but this has cemented my decision to stick with a Les Paul when I get a new electric.
