Beautiful. I used to play your wonderful songs over and over until I figured-out almost every note. Every note counts. "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" took me hours… good lordy. Absolutely gorgeous.

Hello James, we simply love you. You are very kind to share your music. Enjoying all your lessons. You are very generous. May god bless you with good health and happiness. Many Thanks! Bob

You’re a gift 🎁 of life JT! I may not be able to play and sing the way you do but your songs tremendously helped me when I was starting a family with no fix-income job in the early 80s playingvfir crumbs in folk houses / beerhauz in Zamboanga, Douthern Ohilippibes! With the meager earnings ( thank you ) It helped me pay some bills and milk for the kids! Mercí beaucoup James!!!

Seems like some of the transitional bits are left out of the explanation. Such a great song though. I will be a happy boy if I can ever play this cleanly through to the end. Thank you so much!

Am i really seeing this? One of my all time favorite songs is being presented and taught by Mr. James Taylor himself. Eternal Gratitude as i wouldn‘t have figured this out by ear myself. Such a kind and generous man as many professional musicians are. I discovered this by chance on a recording by Ricky Peterson not knowing this was a J.T. song. I can only recommend J. Taylor’s DVD entitled „Squibnocket“ which features some of the best studio musicians like Michael Landau, Don Grolnick, John Robinson and Jimmy Johnson. Terrific tasteful arrangements and sound.

  6. Seeing Dragons says:

As James is describing a chord, he includes, '… which has always been a stretch for me.' If it's a 'stretch' for James Taylor, it's likely going to cripple or maim regular human beings … :-). DO NOT ATTEMPT!! 🙂

James, I am an old guy who is still performing as a single act after many years of playing. I m 69 years old presently and through the years your songs have always been some of the most requested. It is amazing that you take the time to do these lessons. Obviously I do not play every song the way you do but I have picked up some very serious nuances in seeing these videos. One of the ones that has helped me most believe it or not was the one on how you put on your nails. I had struggled for years trying to find something that would work for me finger picking and now I do the nails the way you do and the difference is amazing. Thanks so much for your music and your humanity.
    Michael

My husband, Denis, and I gave you a picture of you in Pittsburgh from an earlier concert, and we now have a picture of you looking at the picture.
Very cool. And thanks for the guitar lesson!

  10. David Davis says:

too difficult for me, but love your songs been listening since 1970's I'll play the 3 chord version, also hard to follow it upside-down, I like the the line in Roll Brother Trucker "Im a running' outta whites " and good ol Mud Slide Slim Thanks for inspiring us
