I have to say that your lyrics are way off. It’s not, “ the reminder for the fall from from your fear,” “indication one more trip than you need” is all wrong. The real lyrics are actually, “ the reminder pulls the floor from your feet. “In the kitchen, one more chair than you need”. If you’re going to put lyrics out there, please get them correctly. Thanks for the try, it’s a beautiful song but please correct the lyrics. 🤘🏻💕

I’ve discovered this song in 2017. I had lost someone really dear to me and wasn’t able even to be honest with myself and entered a phase of denial. Now that I look at it, I looked like a child who didn’t the meaning behind death. Even tho I knew damn well what it meant, everyday I would still wait for her to appear smiling like always, but she didn’t. When I realized that I would never listen to her voice again or see her smile… it’s heartbreaking.
I’ve lost people in my life, but they were never really close to me, I felt basically nothing when I lost my grandparents because we were not close enough. But I still remember what I felt that day, when during our “prom party” (middle school), the head teacher was giving a speech and between her words she said “we’ve lost someone very dear not long ago” and then said the name of one of the teachers. The teacher that was my favorite, my friend, and my support during a very complicated time. Any word that came out of her mouth would give me a smile no matter how much in pain I was in. That ruined the whole party, I couldn’t really enjoy any of it from that point on… questioning if it was really her, or another person with the same name.
When I got home the realization that was indeed her hit me like a train, I started sobbing uncontrollably. For some reason, the shock made me enter in a phase denial as I said. I knew that she wasn’t coming back but every time I would visit that school I would unconsciously look for her. Some time after that I discovered this song. Everything I was feeling, being said by a mouth that wasn’t mine, it felt like I was listening to my own heart through a voice that did not belong to me.
This helped me a lot, this song has always been very close to my heart because of all of that. I didn’t even know what happened to Chester, just discovered that not long ago. And I know that now this means nothing, but you helped me a lot. I hope you have the peace you tried to seek.
Honestly, no one from our school seemed to care much about what happened, neither did my brother who used to be her student… so “who cares if one more light goes out, in a sky of a million stars?”… it really makes me sad because “well I do”
And yes, I cried more for my teacher than I did for my grandparents. I feel guilty when I think of that, but in a way she helped me more in 4 years than they did in 9… I can’t choose how I feel, neither can I choose who I care about… it’s a bit cruel but that’s how I feel
i suffer from anxiety when i listen to sad/depressing songs my head hurts i get dizzy.. so as i was listening to this i almot blacked out but its totally my fault i didnt know it nwas a sad song and i thought it might be so i clikced on it which was a terrible mistake so dont worry if u think its ur fault as for that i have a very bad anxiety problem tbh!!!!!! not tryna brag :l
