After the first B and just before the C#m/F#m/E do you think there might be a triad (or more) of F# C D# (don't know the name of chord) – on the A string (9th fret F#) D string (10th fret C) G string (8th fret D#) – it provides a nice step up and into the C#m/F#m/E – there's a LLR cover on youtube where I think the performer is adding this type of in-between step-up fill between this and at least one other chord change. What's this type of thing called?
Quality lesson!
Thanks Craig! I've spent several hours with your video and expect it will take many more + practice to play this. It's amazing to learn the real chords, progressions, and voicings, you can hear they're the real deal. I'd only ever attempted to play simplified versions of this in the past. It seems even Bob plays a simpler version acoustically. After a recent listening to the Toronto 6/21/84 performance, I was inspired to try to learn it. As a bar chord player, I've unknowingly used the CAGED system for a while, but only rarely the C and never the G (or D) shapes. It's going to take time to get them to be second nature like the A and E shapes are. I'm finding it's helpful to write out the chord progressions for reference and to help commit them to memory
Beautiful job thank you.
Your lessons are the most in-depth and detailed….not to mention they are correct! Keep them coming. Would love to see a lesson on black throated wind as well.
Anyone know what effect he’s using or what pickups I like that sound a lot. And awesome lesson thank u very much
Fantastic lesson!!! Thank you
Thanks a lot!!! Now I have to unlearn 20 plus years of playing it wrong!! (right chords, different voicing especially on "But I'll still sing you love songs") – a little wobbly now but it sounds right!! Great lesson!!
So great when someone can figure out what Bobby is doing, awesome lesson. I'm excited to see more Bobby stuff. Your playing and tone are sweet, what amp/pedals are you using?
Outstanding! I am speechless.
Awesome job on this one! A favorite of Weir’s for me
This is an awesome lesson on the caged system. If you can remember these shapes it helps with lead playing as well
In my opinion one of Jerry’s best solos of all time is from Looks Like Rain 10/18/78 from Winterland , he tears it up! Great lesson btw Craig 🎸
Thanks for explanations on the open voicings that Bobby used. I am learning how he builds these chords with a root and 3rd and 5th or even just a root and third and the octave and they all sound so nice. They are great practice to learn new shapes. I just got a custom 24 SE can't imagine how good that American one is. thanks again.
Glad I've been working on these caged chords alot.would be really lost
Always wanted to try this.what a busy rhythm.love it
Great lesson…thanks so much…in addition…I've got that Josie riff down…..thanks to the weeping willow
Can you do a solo for this please??? Thanks
How about Black Throated Wind, I like that one.
Great lesson as always. Thank you!
Love the Bobby lessons!
Fantastic! Can't wait to work through this throughout the weekend. Would love to see more Bobby lessons! As always thanks for the great lesson!
