P. Unnikrishnan performs a beautiful folk song (kavadi chindu) in Tamil in this performance from Darbar Festival 2011. The title of the song is ‘Villinai Otha’ and is composed by Mahakavi Subramania Bharathi (1882-1921). P.Unnikrishnan does justice to this piece, showcasing the meter of the song with excellent laya and enlivening his listeners with a variety of catchy phrases.

Jyotsna Srikanth gives a peppy accompaniment on her violin supporting Unnikrishnan’s phrases with sprightly and happy rejoinders. Bangalore Praveen (mridangam) and RN Prakash (ghatam) give a rich accompaniment on the percussions.
