Alright, here it is! This song is a freaking ****, but so fun to play! Might even be the hardest song I ever learned rhythmically.
Sorry for messing up the timing around bar 242 – 249. After recording many takes up to 16 minutes I decided to go with it 😀

Every bar could be counted as 21/8 if you want. The time signatures I used for the parts represent how I count them. They all add up to 21, actually kinda cool.
132: Here should be a D power chord obviously, I forgot to notate that.
305: This could also be Jones’ special pull-thru triplets, but I figured the other notes would be more fitting for rest of the sequence.

I think people who dislike the album are trying to hard to compare it to the old Tool stuff. That shouldn’t be done. When you think about 13 years, that’s a pretty long time. They are obviously very different people than they were, individually and collectively as a group. 13 years ago for me seems like I went through 20 lifetimes, through all the changes that happened in my life. I could argue that they are a totally different band, in the sense that they are 13 years older, they have matured musically and intellectually. Obviously they are the same band, but things change, and change isn’t always good. But the album, the damn album is a masterpiece…

Damn dude, salute! I have one question though.. what concoction of effects makes that dirty intro riff sound like it's almost panning? Alot of flanger and some chorus maybe?

8:13 (for solo practice)
Been practicing this so long now, but just cannot get the 0 3 5 hammer on pull off part. It drives me mad! I have heard that this is not actually how Adam plays it, and is actually using my a technique similar to the left hand string rake in the into to Jambi. Anybody know about this?

Anyone notice that on an album with a song called Descending (the middle song) that the times for all songs are ascending (CVoices + CCTrip = 14). There is a metaphor there that as Tool members are ascending in age they are not descending in ability or creativity, although Invincible hints at the struggle to stay relevant and on your game as life pulls you to new battlefields.
And then they end with this gem of an excursion, the 7th song, with Adam Jones conjuring up his most melodic mesmerizing masterpiece to date. He chugs, he wails, he moans, he grunts through his silver Les Paul. And, it is amazing how for 15 minutes one guitarist can stay pretty much in a single key with little to no chord changes — nearly everything stays within in D.
