📚 Description: I’ve been having people ask me to review the Jimmy Page Telecasters for a long time… however, a recent NGD purchase of the USA Jimmy Page Mirror Tele prompted me to buy it and the Dragon Tele to do a side-by-side comparison video. At first, I just bought the dragon to illustrate the story, but I was so impressed by the Dragon Tele that I went for the double review.

In the end – the USA Tele was the clear winner… but is it $1100 better? Only you can answer that question. Some slightly better pickups in the Dragon, a PLEK and fretboard rolling would get it very close… but then you’re almost at the same price as the USA. It is all a feel thing for me! My choice is the Mirror Jimmy Page Tele.

Just to say… The Yardbirds used Vox AC-30 amps. Jimmy Page went through several endorsement deals using solid state amps… Total crap… I believe he used Standels and Jordens with The Yardbirds… At least poised for promo pictures. With early Zep he had some weird solid state amp in 68, (see this in the rough sounding live Denmark footage) briefly used Rickenbackers solid state Transonic stacks and then thank God he went to Marshall.

  2. flagemdown66 says:

When Jimmy ended up on guitar and Jeff left Jimmy got the The Yardbirds group owned telecaster… Not really a "gift"… Beck flew home after walking out at a gig. The tele was probably not his property…

  3. Stubahn says:

The domestic would have sounded even better with .08s tuned a half step down. Swap out the neck and minor hardware for wha? $400? on the Telejuana could turn a savvy Dad into super hero at gift giving time. Father/son bonding as Dad explains the back story of Jimmy Page and Led Zeplin. Skim stones on pond, etc

  4. Ahmad Khatib says:

I just tried the white one today. Plays lovely and was very well set up. I never thought a 7.25 inch neck radius would play like this..even did some David Gilmour bends on it with no fretting out issues at all! Very impressed with the quality and sound.

  5. Lefteris Benis says:

hmm interesting. i liked the full bodied clean sounds of the american. superior sound for sure. but i preferred the mexican on the distorted channel because it was thinner. sounded more agressive and ''teleish'' to me. well, i guess it comes down to personal taste.

  6. terrypussypower says:

Jimmy Page had one of the greatest Telecaster tones in rock! "Led Zeppelin 1" is all Telecaster, and it's fantastic. In fact, that is Page's strength as a player imo…..his ability to coax amazing tones from his guitars. "Physical Graffiti" for instance, is a master class in stunning guitar tones.

  7. Nick Soboleski says:

You gotta play it like page does with the dazed and confused it’s all bending on the main riff then the second part is a b shape starting on the second fret. Still sounds the same it was basically the first album and the solo from stairway to heaven. I want one of these but I’d almost rather have an American tele painted to save money and not settle for Mexican I don’t know if it was under $900 I’d be like great but I can get a used American blonde or natural tele for under a grand if I look hard enough and just put some vintage style tuners on it, make one of those pickguards or buy one, then I can just have it painted or buy a decal which I think they sell for this reason. Really enjoy your videos, next time with the zeppelin you should plug the tele into a Supro with a tone bender or a les Paul straight into a cranked Marshall plexi using a fuzz as a boost and not blasting the fuzz instant page tone.

  8. Lost Highway says:

when i saw this video come up I was afraid it would make me miss the Dragon Tele I sold . Now i'm glad I sold it – keep up the great work man !! could you please do a review of some of the modern Tokai LS range ? thanks 🙂

  9. charlie Agajanian says:

I got lucky with a two piece body on my Mexican dragon Tele. As for the finish checking I think it is natural even though they call it a “road worn neck” I think it’s just the lacquer they use in the Mexico factory doesn’t hold form as long or as good as the older American stuff when it comes to shipping etc.

  10. alwaysopen says:

He is well known for the Tele. The LP came later.
    White one looks better….way better.
    Rubber grommet is surgical tubing.
Save your money and buy a MIM plain Tele.

  11. it's like the same but different says:

I may be alone in this but the Dragon sounds closer to the original Tele that Jimmy used. His original had a more trebly sound than the stock White Telecaster, probably cos he modified those pickups back then to his specs. Cosmetic wise I’d say yes get the white US made one but if you’re looking for exact tones then get the Mexican made Dragon tele.

  12. afvet91 says:

Trogly, I purchased the dragon tele early on and the case I received was the tweed one – not the black one…..Also mine when unboxing was bounced around too. So much so that it actually damaged the case a little. Wonder if the black case is of better fit and quality? I let the guitar sit for a long while before unboxing, and my first impression was that the guitar needed a drastic setup, So much so when playing it for the first time the b string broke. I do like the sounds from the custom wound pickups. Mexican Quality needs to be better for this price point for sure.

  13. Gabriel Cornea says:

Thank you for the video. I don't know if you are aware that the last minute or so there are two big rectangles on the screen with suggested videos covering your presentation of the guitars in black light. You might try to fill the last minute of the next video with blank screen or some non-important stuff and present your good work before the ads kick in

  14. Lewis Conger says:

Jimmy Page is just as known for Teles as Les Paul’s. Just look it up! Much better known for playing a tele than Hendrix for flying Vs and SGs. Though I don’t begrudge Gibson for the guitars. Please know what your talking about before you talk about it. Many famous Zeppelin songs were tracked with Teles.

  15. advntr_tme says:

I laughed when you said that people would prefer the MIM neck in the review and then completely changed your opinion after the playing demo. Also your playing demo was great in this one. Very nice!

  16. Ibn Sina says:

I don't know if it's because you take off the strings and don't let them set in properly before doing the tests, or if you just press down on them too much, but it's very common to get to the tone test and hear some out-of-tune mess
