“Wonderland by Night” is a popular song by Bert Kaempfert that was a Billboard number one hit for three weeks, starting January 9, 1961. The song was written by Klaus-Günter Neumann with English lyrics by Lincoln Chase. It was Kaempfert’s first hit with his orchestra. The song featured Charly Tabor on trumpet. Engelbert Humperdinck also recorded a vocal version of the song in his 1968 album A Man Without Love.

Trivia : When the pre-fame Beatles were in Hamburg in 1961, it was Bert Kaempfert who saw them in a club and asked them to back fellow Englishman Tony Sheridan on his "My Bonnie" session and others. As a "reward", The Beatles were permitted to record "Ain't She Sweet" and the original instrumental "Cry For A Shadow".

Always liked this one Dave . I first heard it when I saw a documentary film ,one of these X films that were about .I think it may have been called something like World By Night . I think this tune was done originally for film .It was back in 1961 and I went to see it with a girl friend I had back then . She was only 14 and I was 15 . Very naughty sneaking in to see X films but it was fun.
The song struck me and I think due to film it caught on in US but not here .It is very good by Bert Kaemphert and I think your guitar version is equally as good . Super playing Dave . I like this very much .I`m not all rock n roll as I also like a good melody as well which this certainly is .

ps ………Thanks for wishing me a good holiday . Weather was very dry but dull in Germany .Got good photos which I`ll put up soon and I also saw Queen in London on Sat with Trooping The Colour . Horses are lovely . Great sight to see it live .
