Heard this song playing from an old radio yesterday while I was on my way home. By listening to its lyrics, Karen disenchanted my thoughts from reality temporarily and persuaded me to be a passenger onto a retrospective train whose sole purpose of travel was to relive memories. I got a glimpse of random mental souvenirs in every station as it proceeded to move. Those memories I have witnessed from that wonderful scenery were, in reality, forgotten for so long due to the constant movement of time. Tears are already in progress underneath my eyes as I saw my younger self once again playing with my childhood friends whom I am fond with, I have also seen myself in college days consuming a vast amount of alcohol just after enduring a day of insipidity from school. I too saw my Grandparents upraiding my 4-year old self about my mischeivous behavior. How often did they scold me, I did not know. There were some terminals that reminded me of my previous romance, wasted opportunities that should have been pursued, and mistakes as a consequence of immaturity. Prowling along from these series of recollection saddened me for I quickly realized that all of the individuals that I valued the most had turned into specters. Some of them vanished, ventured to a different chapter of their lives, and some of them are dead. Those days that I too cherished at so great a length will never go back no matter what happens, and my fiery passion to obtain my dreams when I was a child will retain itself as a.. dream plastered eternally inside my mind. Painful as it is for me, but that is reality. It just terrified me for a moment because all these memories were already submerged to my unconscious and it just took one song to bring these everything back to life. Sometimes I wonder if songs are a product of witchcraft, a spontaneous creation bestowed from atop, or an arsenal for marionettes like me–who became accustomed to a mechanical lifestyle imposed by our society.

  2. Thank You So Very Much says:

When I was young I'd listen to the radio

    Waitin' for my favorite songs

When they played I'd sing along, it made me smile

Those were such happy times and not so long ago

How I wondered where they'd gone

But they're back again just like a long lost friend

All the songs I loved so well

    Every sha-la-la-la

    Every wo-o-wo-o, still shines

Every shing-a-ling-a-ling, that they're startin' to sing's, so fine

When they get to the part

    Where he's breakin' her heart

It can really make me cry, just like before

    It's yesterday once more

Lookin' back on how it was in years gone by

And the good times that I had

Makes today seem rather sad, so much has changed.

It was songs of love that I would sing to then

    And I'd memorize each word

Those old melodies still sound so good to me

As they melt the years away

    Every sha-la-la-la

    Every wo-o-wo-o, still shines

Every shing-a-ling-a-ling, that they're startin' to sing's so fine

All my best memories come back clearly to me

Some can even make me cry, just like before

    It's yesterday once more

    Every sha-la-la-la

    Every wo-o-wo-o, still shines

Every shing-a-ling-a-ling, that they're startin' to sing's so fine

    Every sha-la-la-la

    Every wo-o-wo-o, still shines

    Every shing-a-ling-a-ling

Such a shame that The Carpenters have been forgotten by the radio stations. What's the matter, not "rock and roll" enough for you? The only time I ever hear Karen Carpenter is at Christmas. Let's do something to keep her legacy and her brother's legacy going. IMHO, if most of their songs were re-released today — the new generation would go nuts! They will fall in love with their music and we so need The Carpenter's music and Karen's voice in today's Covid world. I am willing to bet that many of their songs will go straight to No.1 again. Shame on the national radio stations. And, let's not forget what her death, unfortunately, did for women suffering from anorexia.

  4. Ronald Zincone says:

The greatest female vocalist ever! Greatest female drummer and singer/drummer, period. Please let's keep her legacy alive by playing the Carpenter's songs and her singing! Pure perfection, magical, brilliant, prodigy–just musical geniuses – Karen and Richard.

  5. MINDisLIFE says:

You know these days the millennial and Gen Z young singers they like to pull and tug their voice thru a few verse like an R&B singer to showcase their voice? I absolutely hate that. Why can't they just sing properly like Karen Carpenter?

  6. Revygin Viñas says:

19 years with Carpenters. ♥️ Still my favorite singer Karen. ♥️ I'm so thankful with my mom for introducing me the Carpenters ever since when I was in her womb.💜💜 And I will be glad to introduce The Carpenters with my futures kiddos. I will let them realize that old songs still the Best. 💜💜

  7. Guangbo Xu says:

I first heard this song when I was in high school in China (about 20 years ago), when my English teacher introduced it to the class. For many years I didn't quite feel the melancholy of this song. But in recent years, when I listen to my own old favorite songs, again and again, sometimes the sound of "Yesterday Once More" comes to me and strikes me like never before. For many times I could not hold back my tears.

  8. Ami Démocrate says:

You don't need a lot of things to give an emotional moment. Just a wonderful music, some nice words and an angel voice 😉
I'm 40 from France and 1st time I hear this song it was on a radio, then everytime I waited for this favourite song !

  9. luckyisme10 says:

Love is the law inside of hearts. This song is about a 'love' memory or moment which the past had taken. You can't go back to it, and its like going back to being a kid.

  10. Ryan Thomas says:

This song should stay always on top in all time. can't believe I almost forgot this song until I saw the song name again and it came back to me as it never left.
